Every day, cybersecurity products deliver monitoring and protection services reliably in the background, unnoticed by many end users and company employees. The renowned AV-TEST Institute has been testing and recognizing these "hidden champions" for over 20 years. This year, the institute is once again presenting its coveted AV-TEST Awards 2024. In thousands of tests, the experts examined name-brand protection products for consumer users and corporate users on Windows, Mac and Android and certified them for their strong security performance. The AV-TEST Award 2024 honors the products that have consistently stood out with top scores and achieved peak ratings in the long-term test results throughout 2024. The 2024 Award in the test category Best MacOS Security for Corporate Users is being presented to Trellix for its excellent performance when protecting endpoint devices with MacOS systems.

AV-TEST Award – recognition for verified IT security
Comprehensible, standards-based tests are a high priority for the experts at the AV-TEST Institute. All products evaluated in the test labs for Windows, Mac and Android always undergo a defined test structure and documentation. Only this professional approach ensures that test results are reproducible, valid and consistent at all times. That is why the institute explains all test procedures openly and transparently on its website. All the products tested and certified in 2024 always received clear ratings in the areas of Protection (protective function), Performance (speed) and Usability (user-friendliness). In addition to the standard tests for the operating systems mentioned, the testers also evaluated products under Windows in the special Advanced Threat Protection test. This ATP test offers insights into how Windows products are able to defend against ransomware and info stealers in real-life scenarios.
In all tests in 2024, the products examined and meeting the demanding test criteria received a certificate for tested security against digital threats. If products achieved results significantly above the industry standard at the end of a test evaluation, the AV-TEST team also awarded the distinction of "TOP PRODUCT". The products honored in an award category participated in all laboratory tests without exception throughout 2024. AV-TEST summarizes the results of these tests and uses them as the basis for determining the award winners. The AV-TEST Award leads to greater trust in the tested products among corporate users, consumer users and the media, as the awards stand for tested security on a long-term basis and according to the highest professional standards.

The amount of malware in circulation has increased for MacOS systems in particular in recent years. Although it took slightly longer than in the case of Windows, an abundance of ransomware, infostealers and all other malware variants are now also attacking MacOS. The AV-ATLAS Threat Intelligence Platform from AV-TEST already lists 1,000,000 specific attackers of MacOS systems – compared to just around 9,000 ten years ago!
The security specialist Trellix demonstrated its ability to protect Macs used in a corporate environment with its solution, Endpoint Security Agent, in all tests conducted in 2024. The solution’s test results were always exemplary and its additionally tested system load was also much lower than the industry average. For this outstanding performance, the AV-TEST team is presenting Trellix Endpoint Security Agent with its 2024 Award in the test category Best MacOS Security for Corporate Users.
