AWARD for Norton by Symantec in March 2015
Prior to the download of an app, Norton Mobile Security for Android already knows all its potential risks. It is backed by a unique system consisting of the App Advisor for Google Play and Norton Mobile Insight. For this solution, AV-TEST presented the INNOVATION AWARD 2015 for Mobile Security to Norton by Symantec on March 3, 2015 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

What makes Norton by Symantec different:
Normal security apps for Android scan installed apps for malware. By contrast, Symantec has gone a completely new way, offering the user more security. In this case, the user is provided with precise information on security issues, prior to the download of an app from Google Play. The user learns whether the app is infected, violates privacy or demands an unusually large number of rights.
There is an innovative technology behind this preliminary analysis. With the help of its Norton Mobile Insight analysis platform, Symantec constantly collects and checks apps from all possible sources. The collected information is made available to the App Advisor for Google Play feature. If the user attempts to install a malicious app, the App Advisor intervenes, preventing the operation. Symantec provides the mobile user with an exposé of sorts, revealing inquisitive apps, or those collecting personal information about the user. This ultimately allows the user to decide how to proceed.
