When malware attacks a Windows computer, it usually aims to open the door to further malicious activities, for example cryptomining, sending phishing mails or enslaving the PC in the army of a botnet. The experts at AV-TEST recently put 16 security packages and Internet security suites to test against 16,500 digital malware samples on Windows systems. After about a year at the latest, even novices know what cyber warfare is and what collateral damage it can cause if a company takes no measures whatsoever to prevent it. To identify the best protection for company and staff computers with Windows, the specialists at AV-TEST tested a total of 17 security products in their laboratory. The results show that the market currently offers excellent security solutions for corporate users. A few individual products, however, fall slightly short.

Only recently, a number of reports have claimed that MacOS is becoming a stronger focus among cybercriminals. New malware droppers have come to light, and it has been revealed that the APT group LockBit has acquired the attack code of the notorious ransomware groups BlackMatter and DarkSide to target MacOS systems. For more protection when using MacOS Ventura, AV-TEST has now tested nine security packages for consumer users and five solutions for company networks. While many of the products achieved impressive results, others had a few difficulties.
